What do we wish to do with our life after we say goodbye to Meka ?
After much thought , we realized that life would not be the same if we didn’t have a fur ball to care for .
Planning begun …..
Intense thought , research and allowing our heart to take control , we decided that changes needed to take place . Our life has been nothing but intense change for the past 2 years . We felt it was time we ventured out with change in our selection of Breeds as well .
The way we found Meka 7 years ago was in our local Bargain Hunter , where you can find anything and everything your looking for . With Meka , we knew we wanted a Pure Breed Black Lab … this time was much different since we were not 100 % sure what we were looking for .
Always being drawn to the Husky , Lab breeds we narrowed the field to 3 Breeds .
We were in a toss up between The Golden Retriever , Newfoundlander , and The German Sheppard .
Then we came across The Bernese Mountain Dog …. We fell in LOVE !
We decided to do things a little different and research online Breeders .
Found several Breeders , made contact , but none of which made us feel like they were the right fit for us . We thought that the search would never come to an end . Months passed …. Still nothing caught our attention , not even website presentation with photo galleries .
I recently read a status on facebook about being “picky” , taking 6-8 months to find the breed they were in desperate search for and still coming up with nothing .
Feeling like we were in the same boat ….
My response was , your not picky .... you want what you want , sometimes it takes a while before you have the little one you have been waiting for .... your almost at your 9 months ....
Then , during our nephews school soccer game , there she was … the cutest Bernese ever !

Just over a year old , personality and markings were amazing !
There I was …. little kid having her first lollypop . Eyeballs popping out of my head , you could say I was more than excited ….
Let’s not forget I couldn’t let the opportunity of capturing her pass me by either !
In the distance here I was trigger happy …. Making sure I captured this Bernese in a light that made me fall even more in love with the breed .

I then decided to ask where the gentleman found her . I gave him a business card to contact me with all the details and allow him the chance to see the photographs I was taking of his little girl , Daisy .
Daisy was adopted through Hidden Hills Bernese Breeders , which is close to Toronto , Ontario .
I was in heaven and within travel distance that wouldn’t break the bank .
Lets not forget , that to me , this is more than just a new bundle of fur we are going to bring home . This is a new baby boy .
I wasted no time getting in contact with this Breeder . The reply was no delay either .
I then was filled in with all the info I needed .
Now we wait …..
Checking my inbox more than a few times a day .
Mothers who are expecting , I can say I truly relate to the waiting game .
I came home after work the other day to see a response from the breeder .
Puppies were here !
Our baby boy , born November 2nd , 2010 .
Wasting no time …. I dialled the contact number and butterflies started to fill in my tummy .
We may have to say goodbye to one love to gain another . Yet no matter how much it hurts to say goodbye , I know that Meka will have part of my heart and the hearts of those that are closest to her forever .

We have 4 names picked out . My husband picked 3 names , as I decided on only 1 .
Dexter , Milo , Cooper , and my choice , Channer . I don’t have a clue as to what name will stick but all I know is , this new addition will be loved no matter what !
They say that when a door closes another opens …. Perhaps this is true . While closing a door with Meka , we open a new door for our new pup .
